How to Run a Team Store That Actually Raises Money

July 7, 2026 · 7 min read

Collecting sizes on a group text and cash in an envelope is how team orders go sideways. An online store fixes both problems in about fifteen minutes of setup.

Step 1 — Pick a tight product list

Three to six items outsells twenty. A tee, a hoodie, a performance long sleeve, and one parent item covers almost every roster. Too many choices slow families down and split your order across sizes you cannot bulk-press efficiently.

Step 2 — Set your markup

Our store builder lets you add a per-item markup that funds coach apparel on the same order. Two to six dollars a piece is normal and stays invisible to parents. Anything past ten dollars starts costing you orders.

Step 3 — Give it a hard deadline

Open the store for 10 to 14 days, not a month. Short windows create urgency, and a single bulk press run keeps your cost per piece down.

  • Announce at practice, then send the link in the team app
  • Post one reminder at the halfway mark
  • Post a final 48-hour reminder — it usually doubles the last orders

Step 4 — Sizing and personalization

Bring a sizing sample kit to one practice. Youth sizing is where most mistakes happen. If you add player names and numbers, lock the roster spelling before the store opens; changes after the print file is built cost time.

Step 5 — Distribution

Bulk shipping to a single coach address is cheaper and easier than shipping to twenty homes. We bag and label each order by player name so handing it out at practice takes one minute per family.
